B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) is an undergraduate degree course which prepares to work as a teacher in schools.

This course has been designed for those aspirants who are interested in pursuing the career in teaching and other related fields. For teaching in high schools and higher secondary schools B.Ed. the degree is compulsory.

After completing B.Ed. the degree you will become a teacher of Secondary schools.  One can also go for the master course in this field like M.Ed. (Master of Education) offered by various institutions.

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) is a title which is given to the teachers who completed their graduation and training. But if you are Postgraduate and completed your B.Ed. degree then you become a post graduate teacher (PGT).

Duration & Eligibility:

This course (B.Ed.) is of two years presently.

Eligibility:

  • Students must have done B.A. (Bachelor of Arts), B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce), B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) or any other graduation degree from any recognised University or College.
  • RTE Act 2009 emphasises on quality education, with the view to bring about quality education in schools, it is required that entry level percentage of B.Ed. is 50 (%) for those candidates in the General category and 45 (%) for scheduled class & scheduled Tribes.
  • One can also join B.Ed. degree after pursuing a master’s degree.
